EGR Valves Sticking - TDV6

If you are experiencing black smoke, faltering acceleration or other running problems, the most likely cause is the EGR valves. They are designed to recirculate the exhaust gases into the engine to improve emissions but after a while they suffer from corrosion which causes the motors to stick. The symptoms will be different depending on where the valve is stuck and unfortunately there are two of them on the TDV6 engine. We will replace only one of them if you insist but please be aware that they normally fail within a few hundred miles of each other.

Hand Brake Screeching or Failing to Release Properly.

This is a very common problem which can usually be cured by adjusting the hand brake cables and cleaning out the discs/drums. Quite often, the centre hand brake actuator will need to be replaced with the later, stronger type now supplied by Land Rover.
