K Motors, Independent Specialists in Land Rover vehicles have been performing Range Rover Sport Repairs since the vehicles launch in 2005.

The introduction of the All New Range Rover Sport was an instant success, along with its great exterior looks, the cabin offers an extremely comfortable place to be with most of the controls angled towards the driver and a driving position that really makes you feel king of the road. On these points alone it makes used vehicles in very high demand.

The driving experience is a joy, the automatic gearbox changes seamlessly and with a good view of the road ahead it corners easily with little body roll, no creaks or groans and very little road noise it is extremely solid and beautifully built. Off road it is simply staggering, even for the novice, select the right setting – hill desent/snow/rocks/mud and off you go.

All this technical brilliance does mean that the vehicle is full of electronic control units where pretty much every fault requires the vehicle being hooked up to specialist diagnostic equipment. This in turn means that if things do go wrong then for the handy spannerer it is often beyond their abilities to fix themselves.

As well as our extensive knowledge and experience in Range Rover Sport repairs we also have the very latest Autologic diagnostic equipment and technical support to aid in any fault finding. Here we have a list of the more common RR Sport faults, symptoms and costs* to repair.

Range Rover Sport Repairs – Intercooler Hoses
Loss of power on the Range Rover Sport can be caused by a split in the main intercooler hose. This means that the air boost pressure is lost so the air and fuel mixture is incorrect leading to poor performance and generally black smoke from the exhaust. Most instances will put the car into restricted performance mode but not always. Most common on the 2.7 TDV6 and 3.6 TDV8, to check, inspect the large hose on the left of the engine that runs down to the bottom of the intercooler on the TDV6 or the two hoses that run from the top of the intercooler into the engine on the TDV8 look for evidence of oil on the outside of the hose or a split will show if you squeeze them. We would always advise to change both hoses on the TDV8 even if only one is faulty as the other will fail shortly after. Replace main intercooler hose (Genuine LR) 2.7TDV6 £95
Replace both top intercooler hoses (Genuine LR) 3.6TDV8 £125
Range Rover Sport Repairs – Fuel Gauge
If you have noticed that your fuel gauge is reading incorrectly then this can be caused by a faulty fuel sender (there are 2 in each tank) or pump or a faulty ECU. However, often it can just be an issue with the connectors that attach the wiring loom to the fuel sender units which can be replaced. It is a common fault with a number of Land Rover models. Be careful if you are thinking that you can live with a wrong reading on the dash because if the ECU thinks the tank is empty it will stop the engine to prevent any damage and not start again and you can guarantee it will do it at the most inconvenient time and location. Replace fuel pump sender connections (Genuine LR) £220
Replace one fuel pump sender unit (Genuine LR) £320
Replace both fuel pump sender units (Genuine LR) £420
Range Rover Sport Repairs – Front Brake Pads Replacement
If low pads are spotted early before any damage is caused to the disc then just the pads can be changed. Generally once the warning light has come on it is too late and discs will need to be changed also. Front brake pads replacement (both sides OEM) £95
Range Rover Sport Repairs – Front Brake Discs and Pads
If brake pads have worn low and scored the discs then it is advisable to change both for optimum performance. The average life of brake discs is around 32,000 miles after this they are considered too thin and will have a lip around the edge where just fitting new pads will take too long to bed in and most likely cause a squealing sound each time you apply the brakes. Front brake discs and pads replacement (Both sides) £205
Range Rover Sport Repairs – Rear Brake Pad Replacement

Range Rover Sport Repairs – Handbrake Shoe Replacement
Screeching or rear wheels locked can be caused by the handbrake shoes collapsing, either the contact material has come away from the metal shoe and jammed or one of the mechanisms has broken causing them to lock up. Sometimes this can cause damage to the discs which means they will also need to be replaced. Handbrake shoe replacement (both sides OEM) £220
Handbrake shoes, discs and pads replacement (both sides OEM) £350
Range Rover Sport Repairs – Handbrake Acuator Replacement
If the handbrake has locked the rear wheels and will not release then this can be a sign that the actuator has seized. Most times it can be released using the emergency release cable under the handbrake button. If the actuator does need replacing then the shoes and discs will also have to be replaced for the system to work properly and validate the warranty on the part. Electronic handbrake actuator, shoes, discs and pads replacement £1100
